Connecting humanity, shining the light
Every individual can be a Lantern, connecting humanity from person to person, so no one feels ignorant about the world we share, so no one feels alone in their cause. Founded by HRH Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdel Aziz al Saud in 2011, The Lanterns has the interlocking goals of promoting human potential, uniting commonly held values, and encouraging inter-religious and cross-cultural collaboration and dialogue. It builds on HRH’s already excellent contacts and support networks that bridge NGOs, charities, businesses, high profile individuals, politicians and governments across the world. Here, humanitarians can meet, empower one another, share learning from their different fields, and access the resources and moral and logistical support that can help take their work to the next level. Our contacts and networks are the means to an end, not the end itself. The Lanterns seeks to achieve an integrated and practical context for our networks to actually work and generate measurable results. An important part of working on humanitarian causes is bearing witness, and The Lanterns facilitates this by offering documentary resources and advisory and media relations support with the aim of underpinning and amplifying the efforts of its members. Regardless of the gender, colour or class, these humanitarians are people who need believing in, supporting, promoting and learning from. Whatever we can do to further these aims, The Lanterns is in a position to do.
